Coolest ladies in the Universe (according to Tina H)

Friday, February 26th, 2010

One question I get a lot, is “what inspires you”? This questions makes me actually quite tired, I feel like a rock hits my head and I just get very, very sleepy!

But I can easily tell which women I’d like to wear my designs. Yes please!

Sonja Rykiel pour H&M

Friday, February 26th, 2010

If I make a rough approximate, 50 % of my closet contains my own designs and 40% is vintage, second hand and ‘hand-me-downs’. The remaining 10% are shoes and garments I have bought because I really wanted them, and saved up. Like my dear Vivienne Westwood pumps from 1988,  luxury cashmere tights and stockings from Vera & William and some eally cool designs from Daniel Sørensen and Fam, to name a few. My future investments will be something wonderful by Batlak & Selvig and Dries van Noten (which will take years, though).

However, I’m a happy owner of some selected pieces from the many different designer + H&M collab, and my latest catch is of course something from Sonja Rykiel pour H&M. I love her knits, stripes and colours, but I limited myself to choose 1 item only:

Let me introduce you to my oldest child: Ella, 13. Her main interests are drawing, writing short stories, reading, role playing and media (she’s been acting on TV and movies for 7 years), but her passion above all is Japan! In ANY way! Manga, animè, cosplay, music, clothing, books, language - you name it. And the great thing is, that I’ve had no influence on her at all, rather than -hopefully- motivate her to develope her own intrests, even though they are way different than her class mates. The Japan-craze started at the age of 8 or 9, and she has really been, like, studying everything Japanese since. We spend most summers in Florida, and whenever we visit Disney World, she likes to hang out with the girls working at the Japanese Pavillion (even though Norway is also represented there). I think she’ll shortly be ready to take a Master!

China

Monday, February 15th, 2010

In 2008, my buddy and colleauge Daniel Sørensen and myself spent over 3 months together in China, to support each other in finding fabric suppliers and manufacturing to establish each our brands. We finally realized that China was too big for small designers as ourselves, but we sure came back to Norway with lots and lots of experience, memories and pictures.

What I actually miss, is the food. There are so many different kinds of flavours, due to the size of the country and all the regions. We lived in the South,  dominated by the Cantonese cuisine. However, I find the flavours of  the Hunan kitchen so much more interesting. But it was a struggle in the beginning, though, due to their massive use of chili (they put chili in ALL dishes!).

Copenhagen Fashion Week

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Back home again, after 4 busy days in Copenhagen. We had many visitors that found our collection interesting. Especially after our show, people came by to have a closer look at details and finishings of the garments. The show went really well, by the way, we got very good review in Dansk Daily + feedbacks from different stylists.

We were so lucky to work with a fantastic team: choreographer Marianne Haugli and hair stylists Eirik Thorsen + Sigrid from Adam & Eva. Live and her MAC team created a wonderful make up look, and we got help from no less than 10 dressers! DJ Claes made the music and artists Kari Søreide and Aina Hussain illustrated a beautiful backdrop. Bianco generously lent us the shoes.  A warm thanks to Gregersen PR agency and Norwegian Fashion Institute.
