Eurovosion 2010

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Approx two months left, and it’s time for another Eurovision. I’m a huge fan, and I believe I haven’t missed more than a handful programs since I was 6 (way back in 1973)! I loved the songs, the dresses and the glamour. I still do, and every year, Richard and me arrange a Eurovosion gathering, together with good friends. We eat, drink and vote!

This year, my fave this year is Serbia. Richard and me are huge Balkan pop fans, Richard is half Serb and has listened to this music for years. This guy is so cool, and it’s quite fun to watch Milan, as he looks far more like a feminine Japanese Manga character, than an Eastern European bloke!

And I think Armenia may win this year. Lovely girl, Eva Rivas, with a very catchy song  (the lyrics, however… well).

I also like Russia, even though the band looks and sounds quite different than what is expected. Glamour is non-existing, they look more like the lost brothers of The Kelly Family! But there is something odd and charming with this number, a bit 70’s-folk-sing-along-song!

And we of course wish our own Didrik the very best of luck :-)

May the best song win!

Movies and books for Easter

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Easter holiday is the time for reading and watching series and movies. The circumstantial and charming Hercule Poirot, played by David Suchet, is evidently on the menu…

And no easter without Jesus of Nazareth from 1977,starring Robert Powell. It is a wonderful and timeless story, very powerful and with the most incredible cast: Anne Bancroft, Ernest Borgenine, Claudia Cardinale, Christopher Plummer, Sir Laurence Olivier, Peter Ustinov, Anthony Quinn and many more.  Last year, Ella watched it together with me and she got very seized with emotion, just like I did when I was her age. Recommended!

Then, I’m going to read at least 2 books, do some x-words and puzzle, and watch these movies:

Sex_and_the_city_movie

I love, love, love the 4 girls in New York! I’ve been watching this seire for years, and when Richard gave me the DVD shoe box, I have gone through the whole lot twice every year: during summer and before Christmas - starting with episode 1, working my way through all 94 of them! Even though I prefer season 5 and 6, I would be cheating if I didn’t do it “right”! The serie is very cleverly made - not just style wise, but because every woman can identify themselves with one of the 4 characters. The dialogue is natural, quick and witty, and for most situations in your daily life, you can always refer to a “Carrie moment”! After so many re-runs, it feels like you’re a part of their group. During my years at Esmod, SATC was often the hot topic and we talked about the girls as if we knew them. And it’s quite fun how they all agreed on Richard “being Mr. Big” ha ha (only less drama, that is):

Every time I get to the final episode, I always feel a bit sad and empty. Fortunately, the second movie is on it’s way. Abso-fucking-lutely!
