Art student catwalk show

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Today, the students at Oslo National Academy of the Arts invited to their annual BA and MA catwalk show. My former assistant for 2 years, Mari Melilot, showed her men- and womanswear, inspired by Rapunzel, the fairytale. Braiding was the link throughout the collection, still very wearable and commercial. Many of the styles were unisex and MM prefers feminine clothes on boys instead of masculine on girls. I totally agree!

Her show opened with the most wonderful little film…

2 other students that impressed me, was Yixuan Wang and Marie Rydland. Miss YW showed us clean and graphic lines, great handycraft and great colour- and pattern mix …

… while Miss MR showed us great silhouettes and colours, and the fabrics  were hand made:

And at last, some super cool clogs:

So, ESC is finally over and I’m happy that all my 5 favourites ended up between 7th and 14th (note the Serbian flag above Kjell). We crammed 20 good friends infront of the TV, and there are many feelings and opinions during this marathon event. DJ Claes rushed off at midnight to play the gig at the German party, which I guess went totally crazy! I was happy and exhausded when I went to bed (leaving some of the most decisive guests, who left at 5, in favour of my soft pillow!)

So, leaving ESC for now, I’m looking forward to the next fabulous event on Wednesday: Sex And The City 2 premiere!

G-Dragon to represent Serbia in Eurovision Song Contest?

Friday, May 28th, 2010

…Almost, but not quite.

Instead of G-Dragon, Serbia will be represented on ESC (an annual competition held among active member countries of the European Broadcasting Union) by his dashing Caucasian long-lost twin.

Serbian singer Milan Stankovic has recently garnered much attention with his statement that G-Dragon has copied him. On 20th March, Serbian ALO reported that, “The winner of 2010 EuroVision Song contest Milan Stankovic said that ‘Korea G-Dragon copied my hairstyle’. Milan also added ‘I’m excited that someone is influenced by me from a faraway country. This is proof that I’m doing well since a music star from another country has been influenced by my style’.”

EuroVision Song Contest is a yearly large scale song contest and winner Milan Stankovic released the song ‘Ovo je Balkan’ in where the concept and choreography of the song seemed very much similar to GDragon’s ‘Heartbreaker’.

Serbian netizens also commented, “Milan is more famous than G-Dragon. His Youtube video views are higher.”

But G-Dragon’s fans are angry about this. A Serbian fan said, “My mother works in the fashion industry, and Milan came to her office and she showed him G-Dragon’s photos and Milan said: ‘I want to be like G-Dragon.’ After that, he appeared on TV with the same outfit as G-Dragon, and we were shocked.”

Korean fans also commented, “This had happened because K-pop is growing popular in Europe”, “G-Dragon has no time to waste worrying about this Serbian singer”, “This is so quirky, it’s like an April Fool’s day sitcom”. European fans says,” I love Milan and I love G-Dragon, it doesn’t matter who copies who but Milan’s voice is better“, “Milan had this style for the last 4 years, bleach blond hair and b4 that he wasn’t famous but had similar hair and blond highlights“.
Besides the same hair, style and lipstick, they also share one more thing in common – controversy. Adored and hated, both pop acts seem to cause extreme emotions in their listeners.

Check him out and say what you think. Long lost twin? Or not?

Article in Dagsavisen

Friday, May 28th, 2010

I’m interviewed by the brilliant journalist Sissel Hoffengh in todays issue of Dagsavisen, it’s regarding the ESC’s contestants clothes and styling. Click 2 times on picture for larger (=readable) format.

“Dressed for success”! (Milan fronting the article).

Semi finale 2

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Ok, so this week is very much affected by ESC, and yesterday was no exception. Richard and me went to see the semi finale 2 at Telenor Arena together with our dear friend Magnus, who came from Copenhagen for this particular week end. There were lots and lots of people and lots of lots of flags, and a sense of positive tension and excitement in the air. People were enjoying themselves and cheering for their nabour’s songs. Unfortunately, we didn’t see very well. We agreed on this show working well as an arrangement for TV, or if you’re in front row! Anyway, logistics and sequrity worked really well and all in all it was a great arrangement.

The guys are wondering about the glow sticks …

… to be used for the Swedish number! Well, I guess it takes more than a glow stick to get to the finale …

The light designs were great, but my mobile camera could not reproduce the effect in a just way. However, as mood pictures, they look fairly ok:

And my 3 fave’s from this second semi finale; Israel, Armenia and Romania can all join my other fave’s tomorrow. I’m so happy that all contributers on my list went through!!!

Happy – happy!!!

Yes yes yes!

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

My 3 fave’s ended up in the ESC finale – Serbia, Russia and Greece! I was so nervous during the TV show last night, my hands were shaking and I almost felt ill! My friend Kjell was at home, apparently just as stressed out as me, so we made the whole event into a festive text-message-bonanza, commenting artists and outfits in a way that I won’t even dream of retelling, ha ha! Tomorrow I’m off to Telenor Arens, live show! Sequins on!

Counting down …

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

The coming week will be so much fun, watching the ESC semi finals on both Tuesday (in front of the TV) and Thursday (here, we have tickets to the Telenor Arena) and finally having good friends over on Saturday (even all the way from Copenhagen) for our yearly party. I’m following the ESC’s web site daily, checking news, videos and gossip!

Hop – hop – hop – come on!

These are my top 5:

Serbia

Israel

Russia

Armenia

Greece

Perfume

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

I love perfumes.  But actually collecting and smelling them, as well as wearing them! The scents brings back so many memories, which suits my melancholic nature. My last purchase is Nina Ricci’s L’air du temps, this was my grandma’s fave. It makes me think of my childhood, when summer’s lasted forever  …
